Remember how awesome last weekend was?
The sun?
The barbecues you bullied people into having?
The champagne cocktails you sipped on roofs?
The gratitude you skin felt for being rid of layers of crap and exposed to some fresh air after many stifling months?
Yeah, that was a good time.
This week though, you wake up at 7am and it is still dark, you leave home optimistic only to be faced with overcast skies and an office which apparently blocks sites with non-sex cuss words, you have deadlines and things and life is not as grand.
Well, amen sweetlordjeeeeeeebus for it is Thursday again.
And with that, this:
THURSDAY
SHORTS ARE BACK.
that basically sums up what 90% of people reading this column will do.
so much so that I don't even feel like typing anything else as you all are way too busy leg shaving and tassle dusting to even bother.
Getting sloshed for cheap at the GOG happy hour in advance may help.
In fact, getting sloshed ANYWHERE in advance WILL help.
Alternatively though, Harlem Shakes ARE in town, as is Neil Strauss, and Fantastic Planet is playing at Big Bear Cafe. Go on, go against the current.

FRIDAY
Always a bummer when after waking up after SHORTS (or Fantastic Planet and everything that goes with watching Fantastic Planet) you realize that it is a work day. ZING.
Nature can be so cruel sometimes.
You also don't have Modest Mouse tickets.
Double ZING.
Well, who cares? Velodrome is this weekend, and some great bands are playing Comet Ping Pong AND BISHOP ALLEN HAS A NEW ALBUM and is playing a show to celebrate at the Cat. No one is reinventing the wheel or anything but everyone WILL be having fun.
ZING TO THE ZING.

SATURDAY
As per usual this Saturday all the dance parties in the city decided to reach hands across the District and make it very, very, very hard for you to decide where to go and who to do.
All good choices: Feedback, Mixtape, the NASA with Kids downstairs/Peppermint upstairs combo at RNR Hotel.
Also-second Saturdays @ the Cat bring us Poor But Sexy and Travis Morrison Hellfighters this week.
Get your overall DC pride on.

SUNDAY
Try the new and delicious brunch at 1905.
DC9 has a basically perfect show on offer: Crystal Stilts/Women/True Womanhood.
You should go.
Also, this BLOWS up at 930 club tonight:
Plenty of other options available in the calendar.
And this is ALWAYS an alternative.
feel free to comment constructively now
God loves a cheerful giver.
Clearly most of you will be going to Jaxx saturday afternoon to see Suffocation on the Blood Apocalypse Tour.

Eeeeexcellent.
Cynthia, I seem to remember that guy at Shorts. He cut off his pants (yes, his suit pants) to make them shorts. Unless, that is a different guy. But it happened, for serious.
thats john, the coolest regular EVER.
I did not win them last year. I did not win them this year.
Definitely heading to DC9 first for William Elliott Whitmore. Then it's decisions, decisions.
so you just bought your tickets and wrote the BYT review?
kudos
I did not say that. I merely stated I did not win any tickets.
such a thing as press passes DOES EXIST.
it never affects contest winnings.
