I don’t know if you all noticed but this whole week kicks of cold in the AM and then hits 70 at night.
This is because nature, much like me, wants you to wear something springtimey and frolicky out.
Because it is spring time and frolic time.
Its a solid weekend ahead, and for the first time in a very long time, I think the choices are obvious.
And amen to that, especially after last week’s marathon party hopping.
Which still doesn’t mean I’m not going to spell them out for you.
As always check out Greg’s Baltimore weekly re-up, our Free Movie Guide and our all important Art Itinerary (which at this point looks like I’ll be writing tomorrow) for EVEN more options.

Thursday
show choice: Yeasayer/Ponytail at the Cat hands down.
party choice: shorts returns to Asylum. No shorts-No service. Also, there better be no tights allowed this time around or I will, in fact, place a letter of protest.
bonus: Move-ments kicks off tonight for a weekend of dance, art et al.
Friday
Hot Chip is sold out.
Spoon is sold out.
Whatevs.
(actually, I will say, Spoon puts on a super tight live show, but hey, they’ll be back).
Instead, put your best disco foot forward and go to the VHS or Beta/Tigercity/US Royalty show at RNR and then make your way to innumerous after and dance parties that will include the aforementioned sold out and non sold out bands. (feel a little lazy to link to this, just look at the calendar)
Bonus: Hip Hop in The City of God at National Geographic looks like as cool of an event as anything this year.
Saturday
Saturday is actually kinda packed but in a way that picking and choosing, if you know what you like, should not be too hard.
Shows: The Ra Ra Rasputin/ The Dance Party/Olympia/Mother/Cale Juggernaut hits RNR. I heard something about discounted sparks and it is enough to have me scared. Yet oddly aroused.
Also Nada Surf/Kaki King/Jealous Girlfriends are at 930 club, and if you like old fashioned guitar driven rock music, you should be there
Parties: Well, the always the always good time ready Transatlantic is at DC9 and Chris Burns and Ed Porter take their “This Ain’t No Disco” party from Wednesdays to Saturdays at the Cat. Positive vibes world wide expected at both.
Yuri Gagarin: Not one, but two events celebrating the first human in space: one at Art Whino and one at (the very official sounding) NASA Goddard Center. Thankfully, both involve music and booze.
Sunday
In a stroke of Sunday show planning brilliance Colin Meloy plays 930 Club.
Laura Gibson Opens.
Everyone is happy.
Aside from that, netflix, the ongoing battle with catching up on New Yorker and Vanity Fair reading and my bed sound amazing.
Though, knowing me, it will be 5pm and I will get put into a car, taken to far away place and made to sing and make napkin drawings for people. And I’ll love every second of it.
What I meant to add was: we should go out there one night and party like teenagers. I mean that’s what this site is for, right? To do things that remind us of being teenagers?
April 10, 2008 at 1:31 pmSwear to god I will bring the music to a screeching halt if I spot so much as a single tight extending below the kneecap.
April 10, 2008 at 1:37 pm… and getting a MoCo DUI on the way back.
Ah, memories.
;P
April 10, 2008 at 1:44 pmWe’d make you designated driver and buy you a Big Gulp of Mountain Dew on the way out.
April 10, 2008 at 2:05 pmthis is what you should do: drive out to river road, seneca, etc. with om’s at giza on repeat. imagine you might just die because it’s pitch black and the roads are very winding and there are deer, convertibles, axmen in the woods, but you are ok with this because om and at giza is a great way to go.
April 10, 2008 at 3:11 pmoh- it helps if it’s october, and you’ve just come from markoff’s haunted forest and are still completely freaked.

*not sure why these are flipped but you get it.*
April 10, 2008 at 3:14 pmFor those of you into gay people, you can get into Town free this Friday with a hand stamp or ticket stub from 930, Blackcat, or RNR. Just saying.
April 10, 2008 at 4:40 pmhow about a stamp from DC9?
hoping to stop by Town after LDP

My new favorite thing is to drive all the way out River Road and then even farther, past Seneca, and then even farther, then stop in a field in my truck and listen to AM 740 (from Toronto, Canada – you can live stream it, too) and drink Dragon Stout from Jamaica. In fact I kind of just want to do that forever from now on.
