I fell asleep yesterday at 9:30.
And then I slept for 10 hours.
Because I apparently needed it.
As a result:
I didn’t write the Morcheeba questions, didn’t write my reviews, didn’t edit anyone else’s reviews, and didn’t brainstorm the Ghostland Observatory feature with Cale.
So this morning, instead of leisurely writing Best Weekend Bets, as I do every Thursday morning, I had to do all that.
But here we are now, squeezed in and ready to rumble…and it is really a wonderful weekend ahead (Even the weather looks promising) so put on your new latex leggings, make sure you have some baby oil (or someone to help you) handy for taking them off, and go to these things:

Thursday
1. I hope you’re all wearing sweaters today.
2. I hope you’re all enjoying free italian ice while wearing your sweaters.
now, onto tonight:
So, I love Neville Chamberlain’s “Brazilian Night”. LOVE IT. It features some of the best dance music no one plays and deals on Peroni and 5 dollar caipirinhas (which WILL get spilled) and other magical and wonderful things plus some unwonderful ones (including me dancing like a crazy person on a school night and them apologizing to everyone I danced with for the rest of the weekend).
It happens every third Thursday, and guess what?
TODAY IS 3RD THURSDAY.
Lucky you.
Other than that, it is Top Ranking + Persian New Year bonanza at Napoleon, Ian Svenonius is Bohemian grooving at Bourbon, the wonderful Bodies of Water and Ra Ra Rasputin are at The Cat and you all are probably calling in sick tomorrow.
Friday
There is no hangover like a caipirinha hangover.
Trust me.
So hydrate a plenty and then take a deep breath and go to this art opening because it looks amazing. (full Art Itinerary tomorrow!)
After that, if you’re not tired from the week shows wise I highly recommend the super-solid Le Loup/Ruby Suns/ Bellman Barker show at the Cat or the Points at Comet.
Additionally Taking the Piss is tonight and if you like britpop, twee and jangle….go.
Saturday
Hatnim has her exhibit opening! We’re excited!
Then, Mountain Goats sold out but really, life isn’t always fair so find other live entertainment options.
Like: the Jet Age show at The Red and The Black
but really the motherload is at RNR tonight where Nouveau Riche men (everyone should be excited I\’m not calling them boys anymore) and Blaqstarr and Matt Nordstrom, Emily Rabbit and Ed “Bangin Dudes” Porter take over.
Win tickets here and wait for the feature/mp3 bonanza tomorrow so you can do your homework.
Sunday
I’d go see Del the Funky Homosapien or check out Sam the Man Burns’ weekly at ESL but chances are I’ll be very tired and broken so I may just stay in and listen to “She & Him”, play with puppies and small children and watch “Enchanted” or something adequately soul warming like that (I need it, after watching “Funny Games” which I will review a little later, post recovery)
plus save some energy because on
Monday
Digitalism and Guns n Bombs and Cory are in town. Tickets are, I think, a smidge steep, but you can win some here
Ok, see how I made weekend 5 days long here?
Nice, huh?
Anyway, leave comments with your suggestions and whatnot.
Deal? Deal.
Two of my favorite things find themselves together on Saturday as Ezra Furman and the Harpoons (good review on this site somewhere…) play Galaxy Hut. Good times guaranteed.
