After a full work week of awesome shows (Wilco, St.Vincent, Keren Ann, the Taxlo kids taking over Re-Up and whatever it is that went down at DC9 and Wonderland last night) it would be understandable if you just wanted to stay home, hang out in your furnitureless living room (oh wait, that’s me) and post missed connections on Craigslist for everyone who stabbed you with their umbrella on the metro. I know, I know.
But, you are young, you are bright, and you have to take your love to town.
Ok?
So, here is what you do!

Thursday
My Dad always says: You work to live, you don’t live to work. Remember that as you are shoughing through the memos, the drawings, the phone calls from the HR AND the contractors…
But pack your feather boas and wear something you can wear out at night, as there is zero to no time for transitioning.
Run to see David Berman at the Corcoran. Whether he talks or sings, the man is still a legend, and you should be there (plus, its your last chance to check out the Jeremy Blake show, which Berman is featured in).
Then while still downtown, hustle up to see Gavin DJ his weekly happy hour at ESL. It is a good time, I promise. For I, in fact, have been to this on multiple occasions and even got stuck with a crate full of vinyl to guard with my life.
Moving on uptown, stop by This weeks Modernist Society at Bourbon which will tackle architecture, punk rock, and great drink specials. Stay and Dance.
As the late night approaches, Marquis at Napoleon is always a good way to nail that final nail into your Thursday coffin.
Friday
Keep repeating that “work to live, live to work” mantra to yourself through hangovers, staff meetings and the occasional victorious moment of actually achieving something. In your spare time, enter one of our 8000 giveaway contests this week.
Feel productive.
Run home, change into your lucky underwear (but put some clothes on too, as it IS cold outside) and take some art in over at Alliance Francaise which has at this point become my favorite place to feel both cultured and overdosed on cheese and chocolate.
The show NOT to be missed is hands and knees down the Apes (with Kid Congo Powers and Food for ANimals rounding out the cooler than ice cold line-up). At this point I am predicting lines. In the meantime check out our snazzy Apes feature today). Also very promising: The Black and White Jacksons EP release party @ Velvet.
Then go and dance either to: The No Scrubs Benefit with Will & Brian (conveniently located just downstairs at the Cat), To Powwow @ RNR (with the always rad Sara and Kim) or at The Space for the once-in-28-friday-Leap-Party
CURL UP IN YOUR BED. AND DIE. BUT DIE HAPPY.
Saturday
Wake up, go to Hirshhorn, go shopping, go meet Istvan Szabo, go…somewhere.
Then at night check out the new show at The Lab (featuring Greenland and Len Bias for a good cause), pray at the English Beat altar at 930 club or simply go to a solid 3 local band lineup @ Velvet (followed by the all-important afterparty with US Royalty @ Jimmy Valentine’s).
Don’t plan on getting home before 5 am.
Sunday
brunch, naps, free movies and if you are in the mood for some solid gold DC rock: The Points and Edie Sedgwick are at the Cat. Your eardrums will be ringing on Monday, but hey, that’s what eardrums are for, aren’t they?
In other news, if I missed something (full on Art agenda coming tomorrow, as always)
have a go at it in the comments section (though this is my 30th Best Weekend Bets and I think I maybe know what is up. Maybe)
I ran into the guitarist from apes at virgin fest and the guy totally brushed me off when I tried to compliment him. Or I could have been drunk, and just hallucinating.
