Brightest Young Things

Well, I am back. And sunburnt. And looking forward to seeing (mostly) everyone this weekend.
So here goes:

(as always, if you know better, you'll let me know in the comments, right?)

Thursday

recovery from Wednesday's Vampire Weekend clusterfuck is hopefully underway. Which is good, because several rather jazzy things are going down:
Jason Mojica (of Modernist Society) has taken to curating EVERY SINGLE THURSDAY at Bourbon. There is a theme every week, and this week it is BIONIC (3 dollar drink specials, those damn tasty tater tots and other assorted treats, plus the rather delightful flyer featuring the always lovely Liz Gorman promise good times all around). It all starts at 8, but stop by and check out Human Bell's woozy instrumental stylings at Crooked beat at 7.

also: Commonwealth is having one of their parties and it is time for the Annual Sex Workers Art Show @ The Hotel. It is for a good cause. Go.

Friday

So, maybe you heard, but we're co-throwing this little party at 930 club. Dave Nada, 33Hz, Will Eastman and Meistro will be there. Check out full preview here and win tickets here.

Now, doors for this are at 9, which means you still have time to check out the art openings (more on that tomorrow, as always) or stop by the very great Vinoteca at 11th and U for some wine and cheese as well as to pre-party during the rail open bar at Liberation at DC9

On a smaller scale, our music reviewers Ben and Matt are throwing their first ever Ready Already" dance night at The Red and The Black. Support their rebellion against the mothership.

if you hate dance music, but love garage music then the Cat is hands down the place to be

Saturday

Wake up, haggard and hungover, kick the stranger out of your bed, and go see a matine of the Hannah Montana movie. Proceed to feel even more haggard and hungover but also VERY OLD.

In the evening, decide to embrace the fact that despite the fact that you will never be 15 again or a millionaire (possibly ever) you are of-age, and can go wherever you want, whenever you want. So:

Stop by the No Wave book partee at Velvet Lounge. Feel wise. Then Head to Transatlantic at DC9, which is always a great time. Cory and the DURKL entity promise lots of "suprises for everyone", which can only mean you will end up at some afterparty, sitting in someone's lap, taking photos of your passed out friends on couches. Feel mature.

Sunday

a day of rest. and regaining of brain cells.
Check out the newly opened Recognize! Exhibit at National Portrait Gallery, go to theater, make many Coen Brothers plans and end your day and start your night with the Cassettes at Black Cat.

Alternatively, sleep and hug someone you love.

God loves a cheerful giver.

I knew a girl called Bananas. I mean she was "called" as in the British "called" which means that her name was actually Bananas.

Er, no disrespect to the obvious burner that will be Blisspop, but let us not forget that Rye Rye will be lighting her own fires at the RNR lazerbitch/rockcandy affair.
