Close your eyes, dear reader. Imagine a world where Albert Hammond Jr. was the frontman for Vampire Weekend. Can you feel it? That pepped up buzz mixed with a somber but still hopelessly optimistic croon? The lively guitar, the melodic bassline... Now open your eyes. What do you see? You see Darwin Deez, a unimaginably skinny dude who looks more Mickey Avalon than Fabrizio Moretti (more dirtbag waster than confirmed clean-cut profit of produced pop hits, if you will). Seriously. I wanted to hate his music based on aesthetic alone. But here I am, sitting in the BYT "office" kinda foot-tappin' along with a somewhat bashful grin on my face. Damn you, Darwin Deez. Damn you.
His album isn't out (technically) yet, but you can catch DARWIN at the BLACK CAT this THURSDAY for an upgraded-to-the-mainstage performance that is certainly going to be talked about the weekend over. If you want to experience this same sort of musical bliss, I highly suggest you watch the video for "Constellation" below and I dare you not to smile while it plays.
HONESTLY WHY HASN'T STEVE JOBS USED ONE OF HIS TRACKS FOR AN APPLE COMMERCIAL YET?!
