They Might Be Giants treated their fans to a one-of-a-kind set list last night. To show their appreciation for years of devotion, TMBG played their full recording, Flood in addition to a second set of favorites. For nearly 3 hours last night, fans enjoyed a great performance which started at 8:15pm with a slideshow featuring "venue songs" and concluded with two encores! The 930 Club was packed with fans who knew every line to every song, some traveling from out of state just to catch this special show with the "two Johns"!
The photos from this show cover the entire night (as opposed to the standard issue "first 3 songs only"), so enjoy!

God loves a cheerful giver.

.....and they included a musical update to "why does the sun shine?", entitled "the sun is a miasma of incandescent plasma". further explaining that scientists now believe the sun is composed of plasma, NOT solely gas as initially theorized.
god I love TMBG.
whoever is "faithdesired" is an amazing photographer!!!
dave (mittenfields)
great to hear Flood live in its entirety
wish they did Don't Let Start and You're Not the Boss of Me Now in either sets of their encores

damn i wish i had been able to see this.
NERDS!!!!!!!!!
what? you're the one who wants the nixie watch.
love love love TMBG. i hope they played Dont Lets Start. the music video for that song is a masterpiece, a showcase of simultaneous badass & adorable -ness. how often does that happen?!
also, lovely pics; beautiful colors.
people like to get defensive about the nerds thing.
look, i like TMBG (and TMNT.) i would've likely enjoyed this show.
but the fact is these guys are nerds making music for nerds. and that's okay.
not to put too fine a point on it, but “the sun is a miasma of incandescent plasma”?
str8 up.
I think I've seen these guys 10 times now - just about the best live band ever.
i agree, they are always fun live and the mix of people is always interesting. it is predominantly nerds, but there are so many different kinds of nerds. my sister and i especially enjoyed watching a nerd attempt to pick up another nerd during the intermission.
i'm okay with being a nerd, i love TMBG.
build a little birdhouse in your soul.
I have loved this band for years.... just because they are fun. Seeing Flood performed live from start to finish was a special treat! The last time I saw them at the 930 Club was in 1999!
