It has been notoriously hard to write about Family Hemerlein because we still firmly believe that no matter what we say about it, you really have to see it to believe it.
Nowhere else in DC will you find a night like this, and we will stake what little reputation we have on this: the talent, the humor, the intimacy, the element of surprise.
Our sixth installment (and 3rd one at the lovely Gibson Guitar Showroom) hit some snags along the way with Chris Garneau not being able to come last minute (for very valid reasons, and we will have him back soon) but the troops rallied and in the spirit of fantastic DC music camaraderie US Royalty, Katie Chambers, Matvei Sigalov, Christylez Bacon, Karin Kilper, and the barbershop quartet Pennywhistles stepped in to join Matthew, Seaton, Carsie Blanton and Jim Meyer for a night of little and perfect surprises.
From Carsie's hoodwink charm to Seaton's indestructible humor to Matthew and the Thornleys covering Talking heads to that final all-hands-on-deck rendition of Kiss the Girl, it was all good, all over the place, all the time,
See you all next month.

God loves a cheerful giver.

can someone explain what exactly this event is? I always see stuff about this here.
it is a music and comedy variety show that BYT puts on with Matthew Hemerlein and Seaton Smith and hosts. It happens every last Thursday of the Month and it is pretty fantastic
That violin sonata by Gay 80s Guy brought me to tears.
One day I'll actually make it to this.
thanks cale!
