I'm a Tribe fan because of Ali Shaheed Muhammad. His beats are so tight, so enjoyable, so rhythmic that you can't help but move-- but they're not as one-dimensional as some people might think. They're not all the happy bounce that people associate with native tongues. They've got a real range to them, yet still feel of a piece-- it's a distinct sound that holds up to this day. Tip and Phife are both really, extremely talented MCs as well. But it's Ali Shaheed's sometimes-overlooked role that got me listening back then, keeps me listening today, and makes me VERY curious to see this doc and how ASM's role gets portrayed against the leaders' strong personalities.

I am a huge Tribe fan 7 have been since I was in High School in the late 90's. I missed their last show in 1999, when I was in schoolface-sad I have always been a fan of not only their music but also their message. They, including De La Soul and KRS One, wrote thought provoking lyrics that stood out from the typical shallow stereo types of hip hop music..... it was uplifting, encouraging, and soul full...... Their music and lyrics are timeless.... I still listen to their albums on the regular and especially when I need that extra boost of positive energy.

All I have to say is "here we go yo, here we go yo, so what's the so what's the scenario"? And that is why I'm a ATCQ fan.

I've been on Tribe since Moses floated down the Nile.
That's a while, I know, but it's not like I am on trial.
No statute of limitations, atomic bombs couldn't erase them.
Tribe's been poppin' mad flows all over earth's nations.
With the funky jams to get you moving on vibrations.
Whack emcees got nothin' on Q-Tip, Phife and Jarobi.
Only Ali Shaheed Muhammad can kick jams like Shinobi.
So, you ask why I like 'em: a group like this cannot be bested.
Boom, you just got A Tribe Called Quested.

My Girl is a huge tribe fan. She loves "Scenario" and has the original tape cassette single framed(!) in our apt. Would be special to her if she could see the documentary.

I'm a tribe fan because they discussed things other than partying, girls, and how much money they were worth. Their lyrics had a profound influence on me while growing up in Brooklyn.

Oh and they also made it cool to be Muslim.

Can I kick it? Yes, I can!

Tribe is much more than a hip-hop group - for me, they were primarily a didactic aid.

Tribe taught me that competition is actually a good thing because it brings out the vital parts (Intro to Microeconomics). Tribe taught me "So What," "Sir Duke" and "Nappy Dugout" before I even knew about Miles, Stevie and Funkadelic (Intro to American Studies). The "Walk Tall" sample in "Footprints" is an excerpt from none other than Rev. Jesse Jackson's speech on Cannonball Adderley's "Country Preacher" album (Intro to U.S. History). Tribe taught me the then-uncommon joy of a three-bar loop in "Electric Relaxation" (Intro to Music Theory). They taught me about the human rights crisis in South Africa (I had no absolutely no idea who Steve Biko was). Most importantly, they taught me that it was okay to dig girls with big asses (Intro to Human Sexuality). I could go on and on.

Despite the controversy that has surrounded this documentary, I for one am pumped to see it no matter the light in which these artists are portrayed.

I love Tribe because Q-tip's pants would not stay on last year at Rock the Bells and I would very much like to hit that so it made my day awesome.

I became a Tribe fan from hearing their songs in skate videos when I was growing up. I wasn't in to Tupac and Biggie and they were a great alternative.

Because Q-Tip's name inspired my rapper name Maxi-pad. Not really, but their music is ridiculously good. I had some friends who saw this at Sundance film festival and said it was the absolute best.

I remember sneaking out of my house to purchase a hologram cover copy of beats, Rhymes , and Life at Kemp mill records midnight release. I showed my older brother the case at breakfast the next day and got ratted out regarding how this came into my possession.

Also got my first CD player in 1993.....received two CD's to accompany, Midnight Marauders and Paula Abdul spellbound....good birthday.
