Special thanks to Winston Ford/CouchSessions for helping ID some of these musicians and Ben Droz for capturing Wale towards the end.
Monday’s DMV Helps Haiti Benefit Concert featured an overflowing lineup of local musicians and entertainers. The capacity crowd was overflowing, too, and the 9:30 Club and partners pledged to donate all ticket sales from the show to Partners in Health and Wyclef’s Yele (maybe you saw his press conference on Monday). Punctuated by moments of silence, the concert was a moving tribute to the many victims of the horrific earthquake that struck Haiti last week. The show featured Wale, Don Juan, Tabi Bonney, Phil Ade, XO, Kingpen Slim, K-Beta, and Que.
I lost track of the musicians but the pictures below are sorted in order from the start of the show to the end and tagged when I could. My camera battery gave out – an embarrassing first – when snapping Tabi Bonney, so no shots of Wale.

Amanda from Partners in Health telling the crowd about the medical airlift of a four-year-old boy who had gone without pain medication after his leg was broken in five places. She also told the crowd the story of a report she heard from the ground: a pregnant woman gave birth immediately after the earthquake. "People aren't just dying in Haiti, they're being born in Haiti", she said.

God loves a cheerful giver.

Amazing show, and great pictures! Phil Ade and XO are way underrated and Tabi Bonney's new track sounds hot!
BTW: Slim Charles is his character's name on The Wire. He's actually Big G of the Backyard Band.
