I love President's Day because it's basically a surprise holiday. Just yesterday in my office I got to see the complete joy and disbelief of my coworkers when I told them we had Monday off. And this weekend is jam packed with AWESOME! So to totally celebrate, we're going to honor our gayest and most vampire-huntingest President: ABRAHAM LINCOLN!!!!!
Thursday
- Those sexy hipster art boys of the Boys Be Good collective present a new show, Soapbox at the Hillyer Art Space, 7pm.
- Phase 1 of Dupont (formerly Apex formerly Badlands) may be a lesbian nightclub, but they're giving one night to the boys - and it's the ever popular COLLEGE NIGHT. Seriously, this was the first place I ever went out in DC, and was responsible for my first at-work hangover and my unofficial title of "hickey intern." We're pretty excited it's back, although one must really wonder how it's supposed to be college night if it's 21+. Chicken Hawks may want to go elsewhere.
Friday
- The big party tonight is Aaron Riggins's Pop Goes the World at the Green Lantern - they play international pop music all night long! Make sure you check out our preview of it, which is in the future if you're reading this via e-mail or in the past if you're reading this on the site!
- The DC Gurly Show celebrates its 7th anniversary at Phase 1 (Barracks Row) with queer music duo Frankie & Betty.
Saturday
Today is a big day so get your hatchet ready.
- Were you totally wowed by the amazing 30 Americans exhibit at the Corcoran? Make sure you see Next Generation at the brand new gallery Contemporary Wing on 9th St. It's open from 11am-6pm today and features selections made by the 30 Americans artists. Go see it. Now.
- Early on there's an exhibition and fundraiser at Phase 1 (Barracks Row) for the Deaf Lesbian and Deaf Abused Women Network.
- Our friends at the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington DC present The Kids are All Right at the Lisner Auditorium. We hear Candice Gingrich-Jones is making an appearance!
All your nighttime parties after this brief galloping break:
- INK is a celebration of tattooed men at the Green Lantern!@ Green Lantern:
- Continuing this weekend's world-beats theme, Ottomania at Zeba Bar has got all the Balkan beats that the DJs (including DJ vANNIEty Kills) can throw down.
- Super-fun DJ Matt Bailer (MIXTAPE) returns to DC9 for the Peach Pit 90s Dance Party!
- My personal top pick for tonight is AEROPLANE at U Street Music Hall. These guys are some seriously talented DJs and I would love to see a gay semi-takeover. We'll be dancing right up front by the DJ booth. (If you're curious about what they're like, check out their mixes on Soundcloud!)
- For the ladies, BARE returns to Cobalt as a fundraiser for Capital Queer Prom!
Sunday
An extra day to have fun with no prospect of work tomorrow! (Except for Abe. The work of a Vampire Hunter is never done.)
- Our pals the Pocket Gays return to Local 16 for Black History Month themed party. That's right: it's Black Magic Sunday School.
- And then the magic continues at night with another Aaron Riggins party. It's the big gay event tonight, so we'll see you there: WTF!? Magic! at Town Danceboutique.
- Also tonight, Paddy Boom (formerly of the Scissor Sisters) joins Joey Arias for an intimate evening at L'Enfant Cafe - call ahead for reservations.
The Misty Future
- Next Tuesday, the Washington DC JCC's Gay & Lesbian Outreach & Engagement is hosting a happy hour at Cobalt for all the cute Jewish boys and girls.
Of course, there is always tons more to do just awaiting your visit to BYT AllCity. And if you don't, you should Like us on Facebook and Follow us on Twitter!

Might I suggest the *GREATEST MUSIC VIDEO OF ALL TIME* as a perfect addition to this weekend theme?
