Remember the 1987 Sylvester Stallone arm wrestling classic "OVER THE TOP"? Of course you do. It was a triumph in so many ways: expert wife beater shirt wearing, father/son bonding, and yes- championship arm wrestling. Even if we were just wee little ones when it first came out, the movie stuck with us and there was no shaking it. It was just a matter of time before we got to reference it somewhere....
So, when we saw that D/CLAW (the DC Ladies Arm Wrestlers) were holding down a championship battle for the DC Title this past weekend, we OBVIOUSLY had to go. After all, the only thing that could have sent "OVER THE TOP" over the top, would have been (naturally) WOMEN.
For those into keeping score, the winner was Kentucky Dirty, whose D/Claw profile states that she stumbled into the world of arm wrestling after being "ravaged with gambling debt and disgraced from her family’s good name, The Kentucky Dirty had to abandon her debutant lifestyle at the racetracks and pick up some side work of more nefarious means", and obviously not a lady to mess with.
She made her way through her first two bouts against CoCo the Killer Clown and The Ohio Hacksaw without even breaking a sweat and in the finals went head to head with Boudica, only to emerge victorious there as well. ADDED BONUS: Over $5000 was raised for the American Legion Post 8, making everyone a winner.
