Oh hi! I'm back from France. It was Francey.
We've been tracking the development of DC band True Womanhood for a while now. Check out this in depth interview from a couple years ago with Rick Taylor, or a follow up from earlier this year, or a BYT contribution from front man Thomas himself, the highly entertaining A Place To Bury Strangers vs True Womanhood. Plus a ton of show reviews and other random stuff. Do we give them more press on this site because they're home grown? Sure. Do we like them more than we should because they're home grown? Absolutely not. This artsy yet down to earth shoegaze experimental indie pop trio is the shit. Proof is in the mp3.
Here is Last Rites, a wonderfully addictive (I'm on my 3rd listen in a row now) cut from their Sockets Records/Environmental Aesthetics joint 7" coming out soon. It'll also show up on their upcoming full length. It was recorded/mixed with J. Robbins (Jawbox / Burning Airlines / Government Issue) and may be the best thing they've done yet.
