Last night, in a further attempt to completely destroy our sleeping schedules and sanity this week we went to check out Ellie Goulding and the Knocks at RNR Hotel and while Marcus is writing the full review of everyone involved with this show I feel compelled to start spreading the gospel of The Knocks all over BYT as soon as possible-and so, they're our song of the day.
Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson have a certain adorable nerdy Chromeo meets Girl Talk vibe to them, lots of neatly placed samples, references you're surprisingly pleased to hear (at some juncture last night they definitely had me screaming along to the Killers chorus "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier" which I didn't expect to happen ever again in my whole life) and, in general, bring the party.
They have about a bajillion remixes, covers (including some really sweet stuff featuring the very lungy Alex Winston, who's on their HEAVY ROC label too), acoustic campfire version and original tracks but for today, here's "DANCING WITH THE DJ" which should transport you ASAP from this gloomy morning into the happiest dance club in the world. "We can party just the two of us"-hell yes we can.
We'll be looking to book them for every BYT party left in this year so you better get used to them.
