Since on Saturday we celebrate SELLING OUT in all its forms (+the last summer camp) we figured we'd run some of our favorite commercials of all time as videos this week..........
Here is a collection of my favorite jingles growing up.
My Buddy/Kid Sister: You know your commercial is strong when G-Unit samples it:
Sure Deodorant: I don't know if this is really a Jingle- but Sure/Unsure will run in my head for 5 minutes at the time and drive me insane to this very day.
Charms Blow Pops: The Tootsie Roll Song sounded like a number from the Shirley Temple Classic, "Good Ship Lollipop"- So the smart people at Charms swooped in and blew the kids out of the water with this slide show of sheer coolness:
Folgers: Adding the white hot vocal group ROCKAPPELA (already in your head with their contributions to Carmen Sandeigo) to your insanely addictive jingle for your insanely addictive product is just not fair.
Bagel Bites: A song that tells a kid that it's ok to eat pizza anytime is pretty much a surefire way to inducing public supermakret tantrums in the frozen food aisle.
Twister: "There's excitement going 'round, there'a party going down" and a game that makes it ok to put your face in your sister/brother's best friend's crotch!
Bubble Tape: ads that looked like they were made by MTV interns (the coolest job an 8 year old could fathom in that era)
BUT HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE JINGLE OF ALL TIME IS MFING CROSSFIRE:
Crossfire: *rise fist to the sky* YOU GET CAUGHT UP IN THE... CROSS-FIIII-RRREEEEEEAHHHHH

God loves a cheerful giver.
If I had a band right now I'd totally cover the crossfire commercial.
I love how that kid who picked sour apple in the Blowpop commercial immediately regretted his choice and hated himself for it.
