Brightest Young Things

We woke up this morning to news that two of our favorite venues in town, 930 Club (which just got named Billboard’s Top Club in the world) and U Street Music Hall will collaborate on "an alliance to build electronic acts and foster their development"

According to the press release:

The alliance will involve cross-venue booking.  U Street Music Hall will book promising acts in the Backbar located in the 9:30 Club basement, an intimate spot that fits about 50 people, and on certain nights the 9:30 Club will present live electronic acts in addition to developing acts from other genres at U Street Music Hall, which has a capacity of 500.

“We all know the excitement of seeing a band in a small place like the 9:30 Club,” said Hurwitz. “Now we have the opportunity to see them in an even smaller place at U Street.  Mark my words, there will be bands that we present at U Street Music Hall that will one day headline at Merriweather.”

Regardless, it is shaping up to be an exciting music 2012 for all you dance and electronic music fans out there. Let us know in the comments who you'd like to see booked by these venues in the coming months....

Nero (album of the year 2011) & Knife Party (best new act 2011); would love to not have to drive out to Baltimore whenever they're in the area.
