Brightest Young Things

According to Gawker Dash Snow has died of a heroin overdose.

Dash Snow emerged as one of our generation's torch bearers in the New york art scene- at least in terms of his personal mythology. Born into art world royalty, Snow left home at the age of 14 living on the streets and building his legend, a legend that materialized itself in photography, spray paint, and collages with his own semen.

New York Magazine's infamous profile over Dash Snow.

Do yourself a favor and google image search Dash Snow- to remind yourself of how the art stars live (NSFW)

God loves a cheerful giver.

i have no sympathy for this dude. to paraphrase metallica, his lifestyle determined his deathstyle. i don't understand why you want to glorify this shithead.

I've always thought his work was overhyped but it's still sad to see a creative person go at this young age.

It seems silly to me that a depraved life with almost no redeeming qualities can be fully justified with a bodily fluids, a polaroid camera and a pronounced disregard for other people.

Hey, kids, you can be an ARTIST!

I love how trust fund babies who come from very very wealthy and prestigious families decide they want to lead a decadent life...and of course overdose. I mean art is subjective, so if you like him or not, who cares. Its quite another thing that he overdosed. Talk about snooze. Can we please get some sad lonely misunderstood artist to off themselves (albeit accidently) differently.

@chris - nothing wrong w/ metallica. just reminded me of this girl I dated years ago who actually said something like "I guess it's like when Gwen Stefani said in that song ..." \

@STAGEMOMZ - "Sacer"

Very sad. Depressing in every way right down to the baby left fatherless. There are things money can't fix. Dash Snow sported an annoying hipper-than-thou art-world persona, but his artistic talent was undeniable.Unfortunately, he was not only a brilliant artist but a drug addict as well. My condolences to his family, friends and Secret. No hope in dope.

I guess I'm getting old because I can't relate what I learned about the exact definition of art with taking drugs and pretending to be filthy hamsters.

Eddie: no. Additions create serious problems within a family but there are many people with addictions out there which are - within their own limits - wonderful parents.

Chris, have some respect. Jesus.

This person had friends and family who loved him, he contributed something new to art and he defined a culture.

His death, and the way he died, is painful. You gotta get that hate out of your heart. It's worse than dope and it takes longer to kill you.
