...
This past Thursday, the Phillips Collection hosted their (now weekly?) "Phillips After 5" event at their (ahem) museum, near Dupont Circle.
The event was punctuated by a number of entertaining things going on in, around and about the galleries, including live Jazz by the John Kocur Quartet, a video-art collage by the Dissident Display boys along to music, a film about Francis Bacon (I have no idea where that happened), and a gallery talk, also, about Francis Bacon. Mmm, bacon.
Fitsum and I both were there to take pictures of the affair which also, by the way, featured two lovely models (who shall remain nameless) who were both painted more or less head to toe, and were walking about as a bit of a living instillation.
There was food and drink in the galleries for those who paid the fee of admission, however, I jetted off early to catch Brew at the Zoo, so I got little sustenance and Fitsum got the bulk of the exciting party photos...

and additionally, some SUPERB snaps from Fitsum:

This feels a little forced. It lacks the nonchalant elegance of such assemblies in Paris.
Fits, when shall we see a real good nice ass?
2nd that. snaps are awesome, right on!
this was a killer event! thanks Dakota and Fitsum for your stellar coverage of the important and sexy arts events in the city. Looking forward to the next one!!
great shots my fellow and fave dude photogs !
Thanks Dakota and Fitsum! Just a heads up, Phillips after 5 is weekly in August (last one, this Thu. Aug. 27). It then goes back to being on the first Thursday of the month, beginning Sept. 3.
Thanks to the PC for displaying Jenny Saville.
She's brilliant, and the piece in your collection, "hyphen," is among the best I've seen from her.
The dresses so passe. And some a bit atrocious even.
That green girl is absolutely hideous! Good lord someone please plant her and save us all!
i am special and smart. everybody look at me.
haha, hideous. that's one i've never gotten before.
Hideous, never? You are right....she is a stunning beauty and inspiration to us all. I have some questions, however. Do you play the tuba or just your nose? Also, have you ever heard a deaf bullfrog sing? Because you do a great impression, dollface!
