This past Friday, Civilian Art Projects opened their “Don’t Look Now” show featuring work by George Jenne. For the show (named after Nicholas Roeg’s seminal atmospheric chiller of the same name, featuring Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland, as a couple stuck in Europe reeling over the death of their daughter and being chased (?) by creepy little people and priests-I personally highly recommend seeing it) Jenne created a multi-media installation reminiscent of a movie set itself, consisting of sculptures, movie posters, graphite drawins, with everything just a little off. Just off enough to unsettle.

What you can expect to see: a spectral pirate, exploding heads, a bestial Boy Scout, and some deep, dark secrets of childhoods forever lost.

Jenne’s day to day job is that of a professional stage prop maker so he understands drama and uses it to best effect. The show is open till February 13th so please do make a point to check it out. Even if you are a little afraid.

John Foster Says:

Nothing haunted me as a kid like that movie did. Spooktastic. Also the inspiration, along with other Roeg films, for Big Audio Dynamite’s “E=MC2″ which is magic. This looks crazy.

Very cool show! I am going back to see George’s space without anyone in it.
