Lets not mince words here: the Call+Response opening at Hamiltonian on Saturday was a mob scene. Everyone and their mother and their child (+ their friends) managed to make their way over to 1353 U Street. Which is both wonderful and resulted in really not being able to fully appreciate the show while you were there. As we told you before in our "YiA2010 Highlight" story, William Bert and Kira Wisniewski recruited 16 writers to compose pieces of 500 words or less and then had 16 visual artists respond to it, in any medium desired. Obviously, this required having the ability to read the written word and then enjoy the art which, with the millions of people present was impossible.
So, do yourself and the participants and favor and stop by Hamiltonian during regular gallery hours and do some on-the-spot immersion.
