Orchids!

Orchids!

In keeping with our newfound love of all things flora and fauna (check out the outstanding photo series on The Butterflies! at the Natural History Museum) we sent Rachel off to shoot the recently opened Alphabet of Orchids at the US Botanical Gardens.

The exhibit is ongoing till April, and if you are in the mood to brave the hordes of other visitors, this is the magic she saw and you will see:

Michael Says:

Orchidaceae are hot.

Did you know some orchids can self-pollinate? That means that if they were people they’d never have to travel all over to bars listening to shitty music, or to museums listening to stuffy professors in order to make more of themselves.

Also: Vanilla (yes, the flavoring in ice-cream and that stuff that comes in the brown bottle in the pantry that your alcoholic Aunt sucks on when she can’t find any real liquor in the house) is from an Orchid.
