Possibly the most (in) famous artist of the last decade, and my own personal favorite google image search subject, Banksy (aside from all the amazing street art, you probably remember his headline-making stunts, such as leaving an inflatable doll dressed as a Guantanamo prisoner in Disneyland, California, and hanging a version of the Mona Lisa - but with a smiley face - in the Louvre, Paris, was supposedly unmasked and his identity (of, predictably enough, white middle-class manhood) was revealed to the masses.

That sound you hear is the one of a thousand teen fantasies and grown-up speculations crushed.
The Daily Mail has the whole story down to the embarassing school photos.
And now, for some images:

daily mail article:He is also known for his headline-making stunts, such as leaving an inflatable doll dressed as a Guantanamo prisoner in Disneyland, California, and hanging a version of the Mona Lisa - but with a smiley face - in the Louvre, Paris.

July 14, 2008 at 2:28 pmthat article reads like a book report i wrote in 4th grade … “will we ever know who this mysterious Banksy truly is? read this book to find out!”
July 14, 2008 at 4:17 pmHe’s like BORF, but with substance!
No shock regarding his appearance. The brilliant types NEVER look like the tight pant douchebags in Williamsburg.
Invariably they look like your old ex-punk brother who now drives a Volvo.
Plagiarism?
July 15, 2008 at 4:19 pmwait, so Williamsburg isn’t filled with middle class kids from the suburbs?
the internet is for plagiarism

I first got to experience banksy while a young 19 year mucking around London. Blew my mind…
The infamous jamaica photo was released some time ago because I think he pissed off the reggae dudes he was chilling with by coming off as arrogant…
