Spring is quite literally in the air and now, no matter what, you have no excuse but not to go and support the DC art world at it's struggling but budding best. Last week, everyone and their gallery director were up in NYC at SCOPE but this weekend, it is back to DC.
Before we list the events though, as always, a couple of links and notes:
- Hirshhorn After Hours tickets are on sale. Everyone knows how fast they go, everyone hates the lines once they are there, and still, everyone goes. Get yours here.
- Artini season is in full swing. Make plans to go to a tasting, buy tickets, plan outfits accordingly.
- Make sure you check out our weekly DC Art History series. This week: THE LARGEST SUNDIAL
- Controversial portraits of American soldiers between tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, which were pulled from roadside billboards during the 2008 Republican National Convention because of their vivid content, will be on view in DC from March 9 to April 4. Photographer Suzanne Opton and curator Susan Reynolds will talk with the public about the images in the Pentagon City Metrorail station on March 12 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and in the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metrorail station on March 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A private reception will be held in their honor on March 12.

- Apparently 1800+ people made it to the DCist Exposed show opening this year. Congratulations. In conjunction, Pinkline will be hosting a panel "Emerge Exposed" about photography collecting next Tuesday @ Long view. Tickets are 8 dollars in advance.
