Feed your soul. It deserves it.
Ok, so before we kick the actual event calendar off a couple of notes:
- Pinkline hosted their Salon Contra this week and had Brian Jungen come and speak. It was pretty fantastic. If you have not checked out his "Strange Comfort" exhibit (featuring, among other things, iconic sports equipment repurposed into sculptures reminiscent of Native American icons) at the National Museum of American Indian, you should.

- Corcoran opens their "From Turner to Cezanne" show this weekend. It is a beautiful, tightly edited celebration of late 19th and early 20th century European painting and we will have a full preview of it for you tomorrow, so check back.
- For those out to learn-check out the Albus Cavus Classroom-every week there is a workshop that will teach you the basics of wheat pasting, mural painting and more.
OK-NOW ONTO THE EVENTS THIS WEEKEND (click on links for more details):
THURSDAY
- Ben Olsen (of DC United) also paints. Tonight he flexes his star power and his brush strokes for a good cause with the exhibit opening at The Fridge which is also a benefit for Bread for the City. It should make for an interesting evening.
- Of Montreal is basically performance art. I hope you got your tickets.
FRIDAY
- Transhuman Conditions exhibit opens @ Arlington Arts Center (reception is from 6 to 9pm), featuring work by 10 artists focusing on the future of the human body. Curator Jeffry Cudlin has a reputation for a penchant for spectacle, so this should get at least really interesting.

SATURDAY is as always the big day/night.
- If you loved SnowGlobe, you may be interested in stopping by the Artist/Coreographer talk @ Transformer this afternoon (2pm). Check out the photos from the opening night and dance performance here.

- Washington Project for the Arts opens "CREAM" their massive annual show tonight at Katzen Arts Center
- Strident stencil work centered around politically charged and power-packed monochromatic imagery takes center stage at the opening of CUTTHROAT's show @ ART WHINO

- Adam "5100" Fiebelman opens his series of digitally reworked paintings at Project 4, a gallery that BYT thinks does one of the best jobs of consistently curating worth-your-time shows.

- And those into "lush watercolors"-Addison Ripley is the place to be tonight.
That's all for this weekend, BUT, don't forget that even if you missed a shows opening, you should still make a point of stopping by local galleries to see what's on display, there is a reason why shows stay up 6-8 weeks.
